Superb 1990 Peugeot 309 for sale. 80k from new and never been off the road. I have EVERY MOT for the car and a comprehensive history file complete with regards receipts, bills and all original books and manuals. Car comes with original bill of sale and a Johnson first aid kit (unused). MOT mid October 2019. UK registered.
Car has been in same family from new and maintained regardless of expense. Recently had all brakes overhauled with copper pipes, rear wheel cylinders, brake shoes and front brake discs and pads (cost 400).
The car had a new front windscreen last year and a full service. Had a new rear axle about 4 years ago and full exhaust system. Car has been periodically rust proofed underneath from new.
The car has no rust issues whatsoever and the paint is original and in lovely condition. Car has never been welded and doesn't need any.
Mechanically, the engine, gearbox and clutch are excellent and there's a lovely sound to the motor. These cars used a Simca engine with overhead valves, pushrods and timing chain, so no belt to change. These engines were known as Poissy engines after the city where they were built and are renowned for reliability and ease of maintenance compared to the later belt driven Peugeot units. The reason they used this engine is that the car was intended to be badged as a Talbot and at the last minute they decided to brand it as a Peugeot. As far as I'm aware it's the only Peugeot to have used this engine, which in my opinion is it's strongest feature. The gear change on these is much better and not notchy like on the 205. It's a surprising powerful car for a 1300 and will sit all day long on the motorway at 70 and is well able to keep up with modern traffic. It does 40 mpg no problem.
Very simple cars these with no power steering, no catalyst, no fuel injection, no electric windows, mirrors, or central locking. Car has a manual choke, electronic ignition and a simple carburettor set up (Weber).
These cars have the same suspension set up as the 205 but with a longer wheelbase and a slightly wider track, so they handle even better and with more stability at speed.
The car has no issues and everything works as it should. Has a manual sunroof that doesn't leak. The seats, carpets and door cards are like new and the car has typical french comfort.
Comes with some spare parts, headlamp unit, two new driveshafts, rubber boot and some service items and the original white wheel trims. Still has its original Clarion cassette player and radio that works.
Even the Jaeger clock still keeps perfect time.
This car is priced to sell and only for sale as I've no storage for it and it's outside. The car is fantastic and is used almost every day. The price is 1950 with 50 luck back. No offers, that's the price. Can be seen 5 minutes from Ireland West airport. I welcome genuine interest, but no time wasters. If it doesn't sell I'll keep it as it'll only grow in value.
