1979 Kadett Coupe for sale.
I've had this for about six years, bought to replace my 400R but due to one thing and another never got done. Prior to buying it it had been soda blasted and although it was a good sound shell it did need a small bit of welding work which I had done about three years ago. This included a new sill and rear arch on driver side, some work on floor drivers front, a small patch under rear seat and some patches on the inner wing ends. All done to a decent standard. There was one more small area needing work, on the inside of passengers s rear arch. The rear of the passengers side sill got a thump, pushing it up a bit (see photos) and the welding was left to the sill was sorted, but didn't get done. So sill needs pushing out then repair to rear inner arch. The rest of the car is sound. The original doors and wings weren't great, I was lucky enough to locate two wings and two doors which were virtually mint so I got those and sold the old ones. I also got a replacement boot lid - it too is mint. After the welding was done, the car was left in my brothers shed where some surface rust eventually appeared so I got some Bilt Hamber Elecrox paint, at £35 a litre, and sanded most of the car back to bare metal (photos available) and sprayed two litres over it. It turned out ok, so decided to have a go at spraying it ourselves. Put a coat of orange all over, then gave one wing another coat and that was as far as we got. Front wings are just screwed on, need fitting properly and welded to front panel. Bonnet will need a small bit of work, the outer skin is excellent, but the strenghening spats are rusty at the front and will need attention. Bumpers are chrome, I was going to have them painted satin black, but they are in good condition either way. Front grill and all lights present, again in good condtion, though from memory grill is missing Opel badge. Wheels are genuine BBS 14", which have been refurbished. Missing one center cap, it may turn up. Tyres perished and should be replaced
Interior wise, dash in good condition with original standard clocks. Seats I think are from an SR model, nice orange check pattern, but need a good clean. Fronts are decent enough from memory, but I think the rears looked a bit 'flat'. Door cards present, not great, and have speaker holes in them, but would do fine for templates. Think I do have the carpet, no headling though. Rest of interior gubbins all there.
Running gear wise, it still has the standard rear axle, front subframe has been removed, sand blasted and powder coated black. I have a Manta 2.0 CIH engine, with Weber twin carbs, matching manifold & five speed Manta box. Car has large gearbox tunnel.
I think that covers most it, any more info call me on (0044) 7471 470515. I'd expect anyone in Ireland interested in the car to view it, if genuinely interested rather than constant pm'ing but happy to provide any required info/photos to anyone too far away to reasonably expect to view. I work shifts, so if no answer send me a txt and I'll call you back. No offers in pm either please, bring your wallet and I'll deal then. Going by recent coupe sales I'm asking £3250 for this car, it's a decent project that could easily be on the road in very little time. Log book present. Location Newtownbutler, Co Fermanagh
